Half Moon Bay is a small agricultural town with a strong sense of locals pride and a true connection to the sea. Located about an hour south of San Francisco, it is a tight knit community that encompasses the Coastside towns from Montara through Half Moon Bay (and even further south, too).

People who grew up here often stay forever and even people who leave usually come back home, drawn by the green sloping hills that separate this part of the coast from the rest of the world, the way the mustard blooms yellow along the highway as winter ends, and the sound of waves crashing on an almost empty beach.

In 2013, I profiled and photographed over twenty members of the Coastside community in an ode to small town life.
